If you live in India, I am pretty sure you know what I am talking about here.
If you live outside, I will let you in on something about most of the college graduates in India these days. Most of them are obsessedwith MBA. Everyone I speak to off late seems to wanting to get into an MBA college. The reasons 1) Not happy with the current job. 2) Thinking that MBA will get them an higher pay package 3) "Just having a bachelors degree is no longer enough to survive in this market" 4) "everyone is doing it" I am sure most people I speak with are not much interested in pursuing a MBA degree for wanting to be better at managing the business world. Is that not the reason MBA was started? MBA is right for you if 1) If you want to get better at managing the business world
2) You currently have a business a business and are wanting to get better at it
3) You want to learn how to start your own business and think spending time studying about business and starting your own business venture will be a good thing to do.
If the above mentioned 3 reasons is why you are doing MBA, then please consider your decision again. Be sure to choose MBA because you want to grow and learn more about business, not because of higher pay package.
I am sure you are good at many other things, go ahead and pursue that. MBA is definitely not the solution to making you happier with thejob. If you are not happy doing what you are doing now, the chances of doing something similar on a higher level and being happy is quite
low(not impossible, just quite low). And about the higher pay package, if you work hard, then higher pay package awaits you sooner or later. MBA will only make you spend 10-15 Lakh rupees(22K to 32K USD) and then make you work harder to recover that money before you start
saving for yourself. Food for thought.
